a one-act play in which vampire weekend orders tacos

cast: the band vampire weekend, followed by a film crew, and a local sheriff.
setting: Dave’s Tacos, a tiny neon-lit stand in Bakersfield, CA.

Ezra Koenig orders the tongue tacos, everyone else in the band orders beef. A sheriff gets in the taco line.

SHERIFF: what’s up with the camera?
KOENIG: we’re in a band.
SHERIFF: what band?
KOENIG: vampire weekend
SHERIFF: so who’s the guitar player here?
KOENIG: [points to batmanglij] we both play guitar
SHERIFF: we have an acoustic guitar in the truck.
KOENIG: want to sing a song with us?
SHERIFF: [thinks for a second] I can’t do that. I’d need to get express permission from Sheriff Donny Youngblood.
[band starts walking away]
SHERIFF: Can I ask you a question? Have you accepted Jesus Christ as your personal savior?
KOENIG: [back in the van] california has a gravity to it.
