This is awesome, didn’t know Abraço; thanks for the field research Paul.

paulsingh:

After posting my entry earlier today about the recent influx of quality coffee shops, I decided to do some research and see if I couldn’t find one in my neighborhood that I’d somehow missed before. Sure enough, a little searching quickly led me to Abraço, an espresso bar on E. 7th Street, just west of 1st Ave. With a pedigree of both Blue Bottle and Ninth Street Espresso, I had high hopes, and I wasn’t disappointed.

My espresso was delicious: thick crema that was just perfect in color, texture and flavor. I was so pleased that I decided to order an iced coffee for my walk home. A little hedonistic surely, but I couldn’t resist. The first thing I noticed was the low acidity and gentle kick, it had been cold-brewed, just as iced coffee should be. There was a certain blandness in flavor that had me worried initially, but as my palate normalized from the espresso, more of the flavors began to shine through. My only complaint is the relatively small size (10oz maybe) but as an espresso chaser, it was just the right amount.

If only they were located about eight blocks to the south, Abraço would be a daily stop, but as it is, there’s always the weekends.
