Tim Bray is the William Burroughs of code
The other day I posted a quote from Tim Bray about coding. Michelle commented, “Is this the William Burroughs of code?” and totally blew my mind. Re-reading the quote in a Burroughs frame of mind transforms it from a rather overwrough bit of bloggery to a rather beautiful if abstract stream of psychedelia.
“Programmers experience soaring joy when they can rip through code deleting functions and declarations, screens-full into the bit bucket, with the steady drumbeat of tests-fail-then-pass.”
